She is a leading expert in online trust, digital ethics, and cybersecurity. She graduated from the University of Oxford and completed her PhD at the University of Nottingham. She began her career as an intelligence analyst with Surrey Police, then held key positions at the UK’s Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) and at Europol’s European Cybercrime Centre (EC3). In 2013, she worked at Facebook as Head of Safety for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Education
In academia, she served as Professor of IT at Gresham College and was a visiting researcher at the Oxford Internet Institute. Baines is known for her work on the ethical use of artificial intelligence and digital technologies, and she also co-hosts the Cyber Warrior Princess podcast.
